BILL SHAW
Director of The 174 Trust

Bill Shaw was born and raised in the City of Belfast. After ten years in the construction business, he studied Theology at Queen’s University.

As a Presbyterian Minister, working in a Catholic area, Bill Shaw served the people of Belfast from a church on Loyalist Shankill Road.

He was appointed Director of a Christian Community Development Project - The 174 Trust. Bill Shaw and his colleagues at the Trust are committed to advancing Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland thru a number of projects, encouraging dialogue and cultural diversity.

The 174 Trust serves the New Lodge district of North Belfast through the provision of a wide range of openly accessible community programmes including a pre-school playgroup, disability and youth projects, an AA Group, a senior citizens group and it has provided the accommodation and supports for a new Irish language primary school.

Bill Shaw and the 174 Trust are committed to providing real opportunities for individuals, families and groups, through education, sport and cultural programmes, to help outgrow the community's past experiences of violence and social deprivation.

Bill Shaw has made a huge difference in the lives of children and adults alike.
