Ged Pierse Ged Pierse is one of the leading figures in Irish commercial and sporting life. He is the chairman and founder of Pierse Contracting, which is one of Ireland's largest construction and development companies. In addition, he is a promoter and director of many of the new landmark commercial and residential developments that have reshaped and continue to shape the Irish landscape. Pierse Contracting is a mahor contributor to the Irish business scene employing directly over 650 people. Such landmark developments as the East Point Office Park in Dublin's docklands and the Citibank, the National College of Ireland and Clarion Quay projects are examples of the Pierse hallmark. His company was given charge of the restoration and redevelopment of historic Government Buildings in Merrion Row in Bublin, and has also completed many other large-scale public works. Mr. Pierse is a keen and competitive offshore sailor out of the National Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire and a prominent sponsor and promoter of the Irish thoroughbred horse racing-industry. Among his many voluntary and social roles, he is a director of Fairyhouse Racecourse, the home of the Irish Grand National. He has overseen the complete redevelopment of this racing institution in recent years. He is also the proud owner of a number of first-class steeple chasers and hurdlers and the sponsor of one of Ireland’s top races, the annual Pierse Irish Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown in south Dublin. A civil engineer by profession, Ged lives in Dublin where he is married with four daughters.
